my export

I think I have completed the first run’s video. I mean, I keep going back to it, checking the details, changing stuff, undo-ing, redo-ing. it’s true you must know when to stop and now I have to stop. so I’m exporting it! okay, next up is Romain & Michelle’s. I have reduced the number of split screen scenes and intertitles (white text on black bg). The latter I have left it to just the introduction and the end credits, decided that in between it wasn’t necessary to have text cause the images are supposed and can, I think, speak for themselves and to show the viewer what is happening. so yeh, it’s during the process of doing and editing that I decided to ditch some earlier ideas (e.g. including participants’ comments as text in video, inserting intertitles, split screens for comparisons etc.) I still kept some split screen scenes because I thought I could show some interaction and relationship between different scenes and between the participants. at most I only halved the screen. I guess it also depends on who you ask advice from – if you ask someone strict and serious, you get a certain answer, if you ask a bonkers person, he will tell you to go another way. so yeh. well I got to move on. ha ha!

what I learnt from putting together a video – you need to have something to say. you still need to plan, even if it’s a documentation. you need to plan the sequence(you can always mix the scenes, it need not be linear), which helps you to decide which segments to use and not just use any segment that looks good or just to fill the space. there has to be a narrative, in other words.

Looking back, I really like the setup in the room. I will feel important if I were one of the participants… somewhat like a LIVE game show. yehehe

Idea
I will tweet in wordplay version what I will normally tweet daily and get friends on Facebook and Twitter to decode using wordplay techniques which are stated in a post on my website and referred to in each tweet.
